Krispy Kreme reusable bag

50,000 bags and a box or two of doughnuts

Brief

Our client requested that we design and source a bag to hold 4 boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Their remit was that they wished to move away from plastic bags to a more resuable bag to carry the brand.

Strategy

Stage 1 - Design To allow design work to start, 4 boxes of Krispy Kreme boxes (complete with fresh doughnuts which were enjoyed by the staff) were sent by the Agency together with a sample of their existing plastic bag. This allowed us to understand the request and commence design work with accurate dimensions and specifications. Artwork was also supplied which allowed us to produce full visuals of the design. It was a requirement to Pantone match the colours (of the Krispy Kreme brand)
Stage 2 - Prototype The proposal was presented to the client and they approved the design. As the order was potentially for several thousand bags a sample was requested from Keepme China. This was produced using Non-Woven PP fabric with the approved artwork. To speed the process pictures were provided to the client for initial approval, following which the sample was sent to the by air for final approval.
Stage 3 - Sign off Once the sample bag was received the client confirmed that this was exactly what they required and full approval was given. A formal order for 50,000 bags was placed.
Stage 4 - Mass Production Following approval the formal order was placed with Keepme China. The full production run, shipping and delivery to the UK were completed within timescales agreed with the client.
Stage 5 - Dellivery & Despatch The full order was delivered to Keepme Promotions in Greenhithe on a dedicated 20ft container direct from China to the UK. On arrival the bags were palletised for onward despatch to the Krispy Kreme distribution centre. A full production run from Shenzhen was authorised.

Who was involved?

Managing Director – Steve Anderson
Account Director/Manager – Emma Beer
Designer – Andy Shumacker
Far East Office – Shenzhen
The responsibility for this project was retained by Emma, one of our directors due to high profile and large volumes involved. The design and artwork approvals ran very smoothly with a quick understanding of the clients’ requirements.

Results

This was a large volume order for a high profile client which was completed in short timescales with a minimum of issues. The success was demonstrated by a replenishment order being placed (again for 50,000 units) approx. 6 months later.
